Here are the details of all the celebrity guest throwers who appeared in the charity round on Bullseye with Jim Bowen. There are other pages for the Christmas celebrity guests and the professional guest throwers. In series 3 and 4 of Bullseye, there were celebrities taking part in the charity round in addition to the professionals. The celebrities were introduced as "celebrities who liked to play darts", but they seldom played that well. One reason for this is that some of them had hardly ever played darts before. I think that the celebrities who could actually play darts didn't do well because of the pressure of being on the show, as opposed to their inexperience at darts. Even the professionals often did terribly on Bullseye. (It's not enough to be perfect at darts in the pub - you need to be able to play in a strange studio in front of a strange audience while being aware that millions of people will watch you mess up. And everything is depending on just nine darts - you can't throw fifty darts and take the average.)

If you want to know if someone is taking darts seriously, see if they wear a short sleeved top or not. All professionals on Bullseye (apart from Billy Lennard on one occasion when he wore a jumper) throw in loosely fitted short sleeved shirts. Some of the celebrities here are throwing in leather jackets and suits. The better ones have short sleeves or rolled up sleeves.

One interesting thing about the celebrities is that they show that randomly throwing at the board can often achieve a better score than aiming exactly at 20. Random throwing tends to get a consistent score, even if it will never be the best score. I guess if you aren't a great dart player, you shouldn't aim for 20.

The Krankies - Ian and Jeanette Tough: series 4. Comedy double act and national treasures. They wrote one of the better show business autobiographies - it's packed with mad stories e.g. they nearly drowned on a fishing trip after a friend caught a gigantic and angry conger eel. The Krankies' Bullseye episode is missing from Challenge. There is a Shutterstock picture of them on the set of series 4 here, and Ian Tough confirmed to me that they were on Bullseye. He thought it was a Christmas episode. There are three episodes in series 4 with Christmas decorations up, so I would guess their missing episode must have been around the same time.

Lance Percival: series 3. Actor, singer. That Was The Week That Was etc.

Linda Lewis: series 3. Singer with an amazing voice. She sang the best version of "It's in his kiss / The Shoop Shoop Song". Go on, listen to it on YouTube: Linda Lewis - it's on his kiss.

Lionel Blair: series 3. Dancer and entertainer.

Nick Owen: series 3. Newsreader, presenter, voice overer. Did the voice overs for Bullseye in series 1 and 2.

Norman Vaughan: series 3. Comedian and presenter. Along with Andrew Wood, he came up with the idea of Bullseye. He wasn't particularly good at darts on the show, but the show wouldn't exist without him, so we can forgive him that.

Pat Roach: series 4. Actor and wrestler. Was in Auf Wiedersehen Pet and the Indiana Joneses.

Paul Henry: series 4. Actor. Benny in Crossroads, which was possibly filmed in the same place as Bullseye at the time.

Sharon Davies: series 4. Famous swimmer.

Steve Jones: series 3. BBC disc jockey and game show presenter - not the English darts player, or any of the other thousands of celebrities with the same name.

Ted Moult: series 3. Celebrity farmer, but he was really an entertaining broadcaster who also happened to be a farmer. He did the Everest double glazing adverts among many other things. He was the first guest on Countdown when it was on Yorkshire Television before it moved to Channel 4. He was in 45 episodes of Play School. He's here on IMDB. Moult and Bowen acted like they were old friends.

Tessa Sanderson: series 4. Famous javelin thrower. She came on with a gigantic dart (a prop from the Star Prize rounds), and Tony Green hit Bowen and Sanderson on the head as he took it away.
